I TRULY THINK THAT MOST WINCEST HATERS DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO SEPARATE FICTION FROM REAL LIFE.
AND THAT’S WHY THEY ALSO TEND TO HAVE THE INABILITY TO SEPARATE FANON FANTASIES FROM FANDOM CANON.
By this reasoning everyone who enjoys war stories has never been a soldier, everyone who reads about illness has never suffered it, everyone who reads about american high school sweetheart break ups has never been there themselves … I suspect the person who wrote this is fairly young. Get out into the world, meet people, learn about different opinions and cultures and realize that most reading and writing is an exploration of the human psyche in one way or another. Go to the library and explore the literature there. Open your mind. The wonderful thing about fiction is that it enables us to explore our societies, feelings and prejudices without experiencing any pain or consequences, and if we didn’t do that some of our best literature would never have been written. There are numerous famous and established novelists and film writers who have explored sibling incest in their plots - would you have classic movies and literature taken from our bookshelves?

Summary: They’ve been here before, before Hell, Ruby and Lisa. Before they became aware of the fact that angels were watching their every move, before the lies, the torture and the blood. They’ve been here before. Kisses fueled by adrenaline in dark motel rooms, clothes ripped off in desperation and then discretely thrown away in the morning and Sam, so help him, miss it. He misses every filthy part of it but he can’t go there. He can’t, because Dean is drunk out of his mind and he won’t remember. Meeting Dean’s unknowing eyes in the morning would hurt more than the longing ever could. Pretending it doesn’t happen is just fine with Sam just as long as they are pretending it doesn’t happen together.
One fine day a SPN-Fan obviously doesn’t have another chance then to deal with the topic ‘Wincest’ and the so called ‘Epic Love Story’ of Dean and Sam Winchester. To be honest, if I would’ve done so several years ago, when I entered the fandom, I’d leave it to never return, vomiting on my way – I would have never dug deeper into this matter.
Well … like I said, after five years of successful having blinders on, I’ve visited Supernatural-Wiki.com and read the article about ‘Wincest’. First: Wincest is depicted as the ‘Main-Pairing’ of the show, which means that apparently the majority of the SPN-Fans ship it. This was the first epic shock for me. To make myself unmistakably clear: I’m talking about ‘Wincest’ in the sense of a SEXUAL relationship between one another and NOT about their Bromance and the extraordinary, emotional and close BROTHERLY link.
Kay, second No-Go: SuperWiki states, that Wincest also means the pairing John/Dean, John/Sam, John/Dean/Sam and the same with Mary once again. Sexually. Like in bed (or anywhere else …). Father and son. Father and sons. Mother and sons. Brother and brother. In this very moment I recalled something my own mother, who had a very distant relationship to her father, told me. She said: “My father never embraced or kissed me since I was ten years old.” I was about twelve years old and asked: “Why?” She answered: “So people wouldn’t get the wrong impression.” Due to my age I couldn’t quite get what she meant with that … which impression should people get when a father openly shows his love for his daughter? But this conversation came back to my mind while I read the Wincest article. People GET the ‘wrong’ impression because it is NOT always wrong. Fathers decide to abuse their children. Siblings abuse their younger siblings. And even some mothers do cross this line. These facts always reappear in statistics, news report about it repeatedly; numbers of hotlines are displayed in public transit, some hardship cases are known, on which the world appears to react to with shock and disbelieve. Even I do have acquaintances who some day came out with the truth about what happened in their own childhood. What relatives did to them. True to the motto: How can one do this to their own children, how can one develop sexual interest in minors and how must a human tick to have sex with his/her siblings? And how can one defend this matter and even ‘ship’ it, in other words: support it?
Wincest may be a ‘fictional’ pairing (or like I just learned, several pairings) but doesn’t this make it less fatal? Isn’t it a thought which actions in reality have their very beginning with? Doesn’t a pedophile at first watch children in the playground to feed his fantasies, perhaps the one or the other catalog just to switch to pornographic websites with minors and in the end abuse the own children, children of acquaintances or totally strangers? What this has to do with ‘Wincest’, you nicely ask? Well, I appear to have problems with estimating people who ship siblings or parents and their children – how far will this obsession go? Do those fans have siblings of their own who they desire sexually? Or one of their parents? Or, even worse, their own children? Would those shippers go so far to encourage a sexual relationship between their own children? Where does a mentally ‘kink’ begin and where does it take its end in reality? How can SPN-Fans who don’t approve with this ship peacefully co-exist with them and let them spread their opinion sex between siblings and/or abuse or maltreatment of charges would be okay?
For me doing the ‘right’ thing looks like this: Instead of most people in society I call the ambulance when a homeless obviously needs medical attendance. I step up when people beat up someone, even if I take a punch myself. Should I ever witness how a father abuses his son or daughter I would first punch him for good with the next best object I can find and then call the police. When I see a boy who jerks of on his little brother I inform their parents and then call the police. And do I see a ship in my fandom, where incest is glorified I urge them to rethink their ethical values and their fundamental grasp of right and wrong. Which I’m doing just now.
Some Wincest-Shippers (Dean/Sam) come around the corner with the argument as long as both are full-aged and give content it’s perfectly fine for them to encourage themselves in sexual interactions. My logical thinking feels confused … when exactly this sexual tension should have manifested? At the age of 18? The morning of Dean’s eighteenth birthday he wakes up and thinks ‘Dammit, Sammy’s got a hot rear, I’m gonna *peeeep* him nice and good!’ … Oh, Jeez, no! Sam would only be 14 about that time … so, let’s say Dean thinks like this when Sam turns 18. That’s how it looks like … yeah.
The SPN-writers have built an extraordinary and loyal family-bond between the brothers Sam and Dean which I wish to share with my own siblings. Everyone who writes Wincest-stories and/or reads, creates Wincest-Gifs and/or produces fanarts is trampling on this pure love, which can only exist between family-members and is never, or should never be, sexual.
Buttom the line: The opinion of the writers about Wincest in their own words:
Oh my goodness!
Have you heard the news?
No one gives a fuck!
Now get out of our tag and wank somewhere else.
Wow, seriously? For five years she was completely ignorant of Wincest, but for some reason looked it up and was al ewwww, and felt the need to put in her two clearly uninformed cents. If only she taken another 15 minutes to become informed, she’d realize that we’ve already heard all this misinformed crap and we don’t give a fuck.
So for the record OP, we don’t want to fuck our siblings nor do we want to molest kids. Now, kindly get off your high horse and leave us the fuck alone.
A special-holier-than-thou-snowflake is fishing for notes. Simple as that.
